Ok, so the economy is bleak and it doesn’t look like things are going to get better any time soon. Are you going to sit around feeling sorry for yourself or are you going to dig in your heels and get smart about what you invest in?
A lot of people are turning to the internet for solutions to their financial problems; and while some have gotten lucky, others have been burned putting their trust in one get rich quick scheme or another.
If you’ve waded through a lot of websites and are still no closer to getting a clear picture about which ones are scams and which ones are legitimate, then don’t feel bad. You’re not alone. The thing to remember about any online businesses is that what works for some may not work for others. If you listen to all the stories about people who have gotten burned, then you’re going to be too scared to get involved even when a genuine opportunity presents itself. Over analysis often leads to paralysis and the last thing you want to do during tough times is just sit around doing nothing.
So how do you separate the online business scams from legitimate businesses?
Look for successes. Judging an online business by the number of people who have been unsuccessful is like saying that the entire concept of a stock market is a scam. Many legitimate online businesses get a bad reputation for not making everyone rich when common sense should tell us that even the most sound business model will have a few failures because of poor implementation or just plain bad luck. If a business can present real success stories from people who aren’t afraid to show their faces and attach their name to their product then you’re probably heading in the right direction.
Do the math. Treat an online business like a regular storefront business where you’d keep a close eye on the bottom line. Know where your income is coming from and keep track of where your expenses are headed. Make sure things add up.
Work for it. Be wary of any business proposal that promises you riches without expecting you to exert any effort whatsoever. A legitimate business should be able to explain to your complete satisfaction what you need to do to make the venture work. Otherwise, you’re just handing over your hard earned cash. If you truly want to get rich online then be prepared to work for it.
